Obadiah 15

15For the day of Yehovah is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

When Obadiah declares the Day of Yehovah, he is referring to a future fulfillment, Obadiah 16.

16For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

Obadiah makes the statement that they were drunk, continually drinking and they shall be as though they had not been.  What is Obadiah is expressing?

The sadness of most believers is that there is a tendency to literalize the Bible.  All too often this leads to missing the continuity of scriptures.  They drink just like those In Revelation 17:2.

2With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

They are just like those that are in today’s conspiracy that are in confusion.  Except they think they know better.  They refuse God’s ways and never realize that they are the servants of sin.  They serve the devil more than God.

As for the Edomites of the past and those of today, it would have done them good to learn God’s word for those that interfere.  When the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness, Deuteronomy 25:17-19.

17Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt; 18How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God. 19Therefore it shall be, when Yehovah thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which Yehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

God will blot out the remembrance of Amalek.  Edomites really were no different.  They would not help their brother.  When the children of Israel entered the land, Numbers 20:14-21.

14And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:  15How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers: 16And when we cried unto Yehovah, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border: 17Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders. 18And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword. 19And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet. 20And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand. 21Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.

The Edomites of today will not be victorious.  Israel will never perish.  God will only strive with man so long, Proverbs 29:1.

1He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

God told Abram in Genesis 15:15-16.

15And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. 16But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

Israel would not posses the land until the sin of the Amorites was full.  Yeshua does not return until the sin of the world is full.  And, when Yeshua does return Revelation 21:4 will occur.

4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Former things will have passed away.  This is includes Revelation 20:14-15.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

If one thinks that they can indefinitely fight God and God’s people, they are gravely mistaken.  There is coming a time as in Obadiah 15.

15For the day of Yehovah is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

Judgment Day is coming.  With that, the opportunity for many to repent is coming.  Repentance will be the only option for continuance.  No sin or unrepented man will enter into eternity.

Next Deliverance is Coming
