12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
The dead will stand before God. The dead are those that never heard the unadulterated gospel. This includes all those before Yeshua and many after His death. So many have stated that those prior to Yeshua, only had to keep the law and look towards Messiah and would be saved. However, that is not true, Acts 4:12.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
All must come through the shed blood of Messiah, no exception, 1 Timothy 2:5-6.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Messiah Yeshua; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Yeshua is the only mediator for eternal life. He will testify to all in their due time. For many this will not be until the millennium. What is occurring is the fulfillment of John 5:25-29
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Those who never heard are being brought forth from the grave to hear the gospel for the first time. Isaiah and Daniel prophesied of these times as did every prophet, Isaiah 26:19 and Daniel 12:2.
19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Daniel tells us that some to life eternal and some to the Lake of Fire. This is the Resurrection of the Just and the Unjust as Yeshua stated 2000 years ago in John 5:26-29.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; 27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Hosea prophesied 800 years prior to Yeshua that these events would occur, Hosea 6:2-3.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know Yehovah: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
The sea is giving up the dead to be judged. Many will come to Him to be healed and eventually eternal life.
