Vayyiqra 2 (Leviticus 2)
Vayyiqra 2 has 5 grain offerings, minchas and 2 Firstfruit offerings. As in Vayyiqra 1 the grain offerings of Vayyiqra 2 is a shadow of a believer’s walk. In Vayyiqra 2, the grain offerings are the level of maturity a believer has in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Firstfruit Offerings is the dividing line between the those in the Bride and those in the Great Multitude.
Vayyiqra 2:1
1And when soul will offer a grain offering to Yehovah, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:
- Formerly, soul was the English word any. It came from the Hebrew word נֶפֶשׁ nephesh (H5315). It is in the Bible 753 times. It is translated soul 475 times, life 117 times, person 29 times, mind 15 times, heart 15 times, creature 9 times, body 8 times, himself 8 times, yourselves 6 times, dead 5 times, will 4 times, desire 4 times, man 3 times, themselves 3 times, any 3 times, appetite 2 times and miscellaneous words 47 times. It is translated a variety of words; however, more than likely, it should just be translated soul. Use variant words in this case will obscure the meaning.
- This was an offering of fine flour. Both oil and frankincense would be poured on it.
- The oil represents the Holy Spirit.
- Frankincense is a white powder that produces scent and white smoke when burnt.
Vayyiqra 2:2
2 And he shall bring it to Aharon’s sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Yehovah:
- The grain offering is brought to the priest.
- It appears only a portion of the offering is burnt, a handful.
- It is to be a memorial, a remembrance.
- This will be a sweet savor to Yehovah.
Vayyiqra 2:3
3 And the remnant of the grain offering shall be Aharon’s and his sons’: it is a thing most holy of the offerings of Yehovah made by fire.
- What remains of the offering after it is burnt, now becomes the priest’s.
- When something goes through the Fires of Baptism, what remains is the good part. This part is holy.
- This grain offering represents the weakest of believers. Those who have offered themselves up as a living sacrifice, Romans 12:1-2.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- What is left after the fire is the good part. It is what can be employed by the priests to serve God’s purposes.
- This is the part of the believer that is of use by Messiah.
- Believers who continue in this offering will be transformed over time.
- Eventually they will be able to move up to the next level of grain offering.
- Each grain offering is a higher level of maturity until one reaches the priesthood.
Vayyiqra 2:4
4 And if you bring an offering of a grain offering baked in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.
- This is the second and third grain offerings. It is baked in an oven.
- For the second offering, it is unleavened cakes.
- For the third offering, it is a wafer. This is thinner than a cake. It is anointed with oil. This implies a special office or function, one who is set apart.
- For something to be leavened, yeast does not have to be added. This is because it is in the air.
- If the grain offering is baked too long, it will naturally start to rise because of the yeast in the air. Therefore, this process requires some supervision to prevent the leavening.
- Additionally with this offering, the oil is not poured on.
- It is mixed into the offering. Thereby, it affects more of the offering. As opposed to the first one, the oil just touches the surface of the grain.
- One must understand that leaven is much more than sin. There are several discussions in the New Testament related to leaven. These will not be completely explained, just the conclusions.
- First in Matityahu 16, concluding with Matityahu 16:12.
12 Then understood that He told not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
- In Matityahu 16, Yeshua equated leaven with the doctrine of the Pharisees and the Sadducees. Today, it is much more. The Pharisees and Sadducees have been replaced by the church authority.
- As such, one must beware of the doctrine of many churches, because these too are established on traditions of elders and not necessarily grounded in the Bible.
- There is a discussion in Mark 8 concluding with Mark 8:17-18.
17 And when Yeshua knew, He said to them, Why reason, because have no bread? perceive not yet, neither understand? have your heart yet hardened? 18 Having eyes you see not? and having ears you hear not? and do you not remember?
- Leaven, sin can lead to spiritual hardening, Hebrews 3:13.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
- If one is not vigilant to get sin out of their lives, it will take over and smother any spiritual life in a believer.
- Luke 12:1
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they tread one upon another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
- In Luke 12, Yeshua is stating that leaven is hypocrisy.
- So leaven is more than just sin, it is doctrine, it causes spiritual hardening and it will result in hypocrisy.
- If leaven is not put out of a congregation, 1 Corinthians 5:6 will occur.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know you not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
- It will spread and spiritually affect others within a congregation.
- It is important to rid any semblance of leaven out of our lives. It will affect others by its nature, simply by association.
Vayyiqra 2:5-6
5 And if your offering be a grain offering in a pan, it shall be fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil. 6 You shalt part it in pieces, and pour oil thereon: it is a grain offering.
- This is similar to the third grain offering, except this is cut into parts.
- Not only is this mingled with oil, it is cut into pieces and oil is poured on it.
- This offering is saturated with the oil.
- Oven baked in pan, it is more contained. It will stay within the boundaries that were set.
Vayyiqra 2:7
7 And if your offering be a grain offering baked in the frying pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil.
- This offering based on the Hebrew is mixed in the pain. Thereby, the oil is more thoroughly mixed into the flour.
- This will be the most saturated grain offering and the thinnest.
Vayyiqra 2:8-9
8 And you shalt bring the grain offering that is made of these things to Yehovah: and when it is presented to the priest, he shall bring it to the altar. 9 And the priest shall take from the grain offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Yehovah.
- These grain offerings are brought to the Priest.
- The offering is burnt on the altar as a remembrance and will be a sweet savor to Yehovah.
Vayyiqra 2:10
10 And that which is left of the grain offering shall be Aharon’s and his sons’: it is a thing most holy of the offerings of Yehovah made by fire.
- What remains of these offering is the priest’s. It is now holy and for the priest to use as necessary for Yehovah’s purposes.
Vayyiqra 2:11
11 No grain offering, which you shall bring to Yehovah, shall be made with leaven: for you shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of Yehovah made by fire.
- This is a reminder that there should not be any leaven in these grain offerings.
- Additionally, neither should there be any honey, Mishlei 25:27.
27 It is not good to eat much honey: So to search their own glory is not glory.
- Too much honey is glorying in your own glory. We should focus on His glory and not ours.
- Also in Revelation 10:9-10.
9 And I went to the angel, and said to him, Give me the little book. And he said to me, Take and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey. 10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
- This is a picture of Christianity. For many, it is a sweet proposition.
- Although, salvation is a free gift; resurrections life comes at a price. It will cost everything. Many are unwilling to endure the hard times.
- Either way, sweetness does not have to be added. It is sweetened on its own when it is burnt, because it represents the burning of the carnal nature. It releases the pain and bitterness of the carnal nature when on goes through the fires of baptism.
Vayyiqra 2:12
12 As for the offering of the firstfruits, you shall offer them to Yehovah: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savor.
- This is the second Firstfruit offering that is done on Shavous on the 6th of Sivan.
- It is not allowed to be burnt. This offering contains leaven.
- It is the two loaves that are waved.
Vayyiqra 2:13
13 And every offering of your grain offering shall you season with salt; neither shall you suffer the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering: with all your offerings you shall offer salt.
- This is referring to the covenant salt, Matityahu 5:13.
13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
- Salt can both preserve or corrode. Similarly, Christianity will do the same.
- The more we walk in His footsteps, the more it will preserve us.
- For those who oppose it will corrode and weaken their soul, so that they cannot receive the Spirit.
- Eventually there will be nothing left, 2 Corinthians 2:15-16
15 For we are to God a sweet savor of Messiah, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16 To the one the savor of death to death; and to the other the savor of life to life. And who is sufficient for these things?
Vayyiqra 2:14-16
14 And if you offer a grain offering of your firstfruits to Yehovah, you shalt offer for the grain offering of your firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears. 15 And you shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a grain offering. 16 And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire to Yehovah.
- This is the first Firstfruit Festival observed during the Feast of Unleavened Bread on the 16 of Aviv.
- This one is dried by fire and beaten; just as Yeshua was in His life.
- We too can partake in this suffering if we willing. And, it only happens if we willingly place our self on the altar permanently, and take up our cross until we finish the course, Yochanan 16:33.
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
- No matter what happens, we will suffer if we want to enter into the Kingdom in this lifetime, Acts 14:22.
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
- But it is not for nothing, Romans 5:3.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
- The grain offering represents levels of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.
- 1st Grain offering, loose flour, oil and frankincense poured on it. This is believers that have experienced the Holy Spirit, but do not have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- 2nd Grain offering, unleavened cake mingled with oil. These are individuals that have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- 3rd Grain offering unleavened wafer, something thinner anointed with oil. These are individual that are set apart for a particular work in the spirit or ministry.
- Fourth Grain offering, flour mingled with oil, cooked in a pan, cut into pieces and anointed with oil. These are individuals that have given their lives for Messiah and have taken up their cross. These are people usually in the five fold.
- Fifth Grain Offering, flour and oil mixed in a stewing pot. These are those that are entering their priesthood.
- The Firstfruit on Shavous is just the basic believer who has salvation. These are in the Great Multitude.
- The second Firstfruit was beaten these suffer with Messiah and will be in the Bride.
