First is Last

Revelation 4:3

³And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

The sardine stone and the jasper stone are the first and last stones on the ephod of the High Priest, Leviticus 28:16-20.

¹⁶ Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof. ¹⁷ And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. ¹⁸ And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. ¹⁹ And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. ²⁰ And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.

In Revelation 4, the sardine (sardius) stone and the jasper stone are in reverse order of Leviticus.  The first is last and the last is first.  Originally, the sardine or sardius stone was before the jasper stone.

The sardine stone is blood red.  The jasper stone is almost like a diamond (as far as in hardness), but it has the brilliance of all of the colors of the rainbow shining through its clear quality.  It has the quality of being like a flame of fire.

Revelation 1 refers to Yeshua as God, stating His eyes were like a flame of fire (like the jasper stone).  He has white hair, not coloured hair of a man of 33 1/2 years of age.  When one sees Him, He is the Ancient of Days, the God of all creation who has eyes like a flame of fire.

On the High Priest the sardine stone was first and the Jasper stone was last.  Now the jasper stone is first and the sardine last.  This is because He, who is God, emptied Himself out taking the form of a man for the suffering of death.  The sardine stone speaks of servant-hood.  It speaks of Yeshua dying for us in order that He might be exalted to the right hand of the throne of the Majesty on High, in order to become like the jasper stone.

The reversal is because God emptied Himself out and took upon Himself the form of a man.  We must come this way to enter our priesthood.  It is a change and call to a new relationship of mankind to God.
