G1841 Death, Believer’s Exodus 3c3
Exodos (G1841), decease, departing
Luke 9:31
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
Decease is the Greek word exodos (G1841). It is in the Bible 3 times. It is translated decease 2 times and departing 1 time. Although in Luke 9:31 exodos (G1841) is translated deceased, Yeshua’s death was not a final resting place. Similarly this concept is exhibited in 2 Peter 1:15.
15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
Decease is the Greek word exodos (G1841). Upon death Peter did not expect to be resting in Sheol, he expected to enter the Kingdom of God in Heaven. We know that he is referring to life in heaven, because of what Peter prefaces 2 Peter 1:15 with 2 Peter 1:11-14.
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Yeshua Messiah. 12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Yeshua Messiah hath shewed me.
Believers should expect to enter heaven upon death, just as Yeshua did. This is what Yeshua demonstrated to Peter as written in 2 Peter 1:14. Similarly, the concept of going from one kingdom to another is expressed in Hebrews 11:22.
22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
Departing is the Greek word exodos (G1841). Joseph knew that the Israelites would eventually leave the Kingdom of Egypt (the world) cross the Red Sea and enter the land of Israel (Kingdom of God on earth). As such, these verses could have been translated:
Luke 9:31
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his exodus which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
2 Peter 1:15
15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my exodus to have these things always in remembrance.
Hebrews 11:22
22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the exodus of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
