G4813 Rob Never, Conveyed From 1c1
Sylaō (G4813) robbed, deprived
2 Corinthians 11:8
8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
Robbed comes from the Greek word Sylaō (G4813). It is in the Bible one time. Paul did not rob one assembly to be able to help another. When Paul was given money for the ministry, he was to use it as he determined. It was common for one assembly to supply funds so that an individual would be able to evangelize or teach at another. That was what Paul was doing. He was not robbing but conveying from one assembly to another. This enabled Paul to spread the gospel rather than have to earn a living. As such, 2 Corinthians 11:8 should have been translated:
8 I conveyed from other assemblies, taking wages of them, to do you service.
